Ivan P. Hartsey Jr., age 67, of Dwight passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at his home in Dwight, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be held at a later date in Round Grove Cemetery, rural Campus. Memorials in honor of Ivan may be made to the Livingston County Humane Society. Hager Memorial Home in Dwight is in charge of arrangements. Ivan was born March 24, 1954 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Ivan P. and Betty (Harrington) Hartsey Sr. He married Nola Mateska on March 25, 1994 in Galena, Illinois. She passed away May 16, 2018. His mother survives in Louisville, Illinois. His father passed away March 11, 1965. Also surviving are Nola’s children: Dawn (Joe) Boitnott of Pontiac; Regina (Ron) Ross of Pontiac, Illinois; Jack (Sheila Doran) Gregory Jr. of Dwight; and Brandon (Bridget) Stych of Dwight; sister, Sandy Byers of Flora, Illinois; brother, Steve (Linda) Hartsey of Louisville, Illinois; grandchildren: Kelly, Jessica, Tim, Tanner, and Madison; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, wife, brother-in-law Randy Byers; and grandson, Michael Pokarney. Ivan graduated North Clay High School in Louisville, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Air Force for seven years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he was an over-the-road truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of the Dwight American Legion and the Dwight VFW. He served on the Dwight Honor Guard for many years. He enjoyed watching Nascar, fishing and taking care of his dogs.
