Sept 20 – A baseball lost to St. Rays 10-4 in their sectional game last Saturday. The Redbird’s started off in the lead, but the strong hitting St. Rays Rockets took it back. Jaxon Lee pitched 5 great innings. Nathan Wilkey and Chase Wilkey added an inning pitched as well. Kade Jensen had a clutch double to move the runners into scoring position. Dean Carey and Jaxon Lee each had a single. The team did a great job of using small ball tactics to take the lead. The boys improved greatly on their baseball skills throughout the year and we are hoping to pick up where we left off last season.

Sept 17 – The Dwight Redbird A Baseball Team won their Regional Championship game against Milford 15-4. The Redbird’s had some hot bats in the contest tallying 9 hits. Nathan Wilkey was the leading hitter with 2 hits (with one hit being a double) and 3 RBI’s. Kade Jensen, Dean Carey, Jaxon Lee, Brady Marques, Carlos Ochoa, Braxton Flahaut, and Chase Wilkey each earned a hit as well. Carlos Ochoa, Dean Carey, and Jaxon Lee each had 2 stolen bases. Kade Jensen and Brady Marques added one stolen base each. Jaxon Lee was the winning pitcher and threw 3 strong innings with 5 strikeouts. Both Nathan Wilkey and Chase Wilkey threw an inning to add. A baseball will play in their Sectional game this Saturday at St. Ray’s in Joliet at 11am.

Sept 12 – A Baseball: A Baseball defeated Donovan 13-0 in their first regional game. In the 4 innings played, the Redbird’s tallied 9 hits and 5 hit by pitches. Kade Jensen had 3 hits on the day. Nathan Wilkey had 3 hits with 2 ground-rule doubles and a walkoff single. Jaxon Lee had 2 hits and Dean Carey added with 1. Jaxon Lee was the winning pitcher with only throwing an inning. Chase Wilkey, Nathan Wilkey, and Jace Jensen all threw 1 inning. The pitching staff threw 70% strikes last night. The Running Redbird;s stole 13 bases last night led by Carlos Ochoa’s 3 stolen bags. The Redbird’s are playing at home and aim to build on their 3-game win streak this Saturday at 11:30am against Grant Park for their 2nd regional game.

The A team appreciated the support they got from the B team at the game!  The Redbird’s are playing at home and aim to build on their 3-game win streak this Saturday at 11:30am against Grant Park for their 2nd regional game.

Sept 10 – A baseball defeated MVK in a 5 inning game last night by a score of 6-2. Dean Carey was the winning pitcher striking out 5 batters in 3 innings pitched. Jaxon Lee pitched the last 2 innings striking out 2. The Redbird’s tallied 7 hits. Kade Jensen and Brady Marques added 2 hits each. Nathan Wilkey had 2 hits with a double. Carlos Ochoa recieved a hit as well. The Redbird’s played fantastic defense along with their strong hitting. A baseball is beginning their regional today here at home at 4:30 against Donovan. Come out and support your Redbird’s!

Sept 8 – A Baseball:  Redbird’s A Baseball defeated Pontiac 12-3. The Redbird’s tallied 9 hits in the contest. Carlos Ochoa led the team with 3 hits and Kevin Peterson had 2 hits. Nathan Wilkey, Dean Carey, Jaxon Lee, and Jace Jensen each provided 1 hit. Chase Wilkey was the winning pitcher with 3 innings pitched. Jaxon Lee, Nathan Wilkey, and Kade Jensen each threw an inning as well. The Redbirds play on Wednesday in MVK at 4:30. B baseball will play 5 innings after the A game in MVK.

Sept 2 – Redbird’s A Baseball: Redbird’s A baseball couldn’t cap off the comeback against Wilmington and lost 12-10 yesterday. The Redbirds tallied 12 hits in the contest. Kade Jensen had 3 hits, both Gunnar Severns and Jacob Lee had 2, and Dean Carey, Braxton Flahaut, Jace Jensen, Carlos Ochoa, and Van Patten all had 1 hit. Jaxon Lee, Dean Carey, and Kade Jensen each stole multiple bases. Chase Wilkey started and pitched 3 innings only giving up 1 run. Jacob Lee pitched 2.2 innings. Kevin Peterson and Braxton Flahaut both ended the day pitching the last 1.1 innings. Aug 28 – A Baseball: Redbird’s A Team baseball lost 10-3 to Prairie Central last night. Jaxon Lee threw 6.1 innings and Dean Carey threw .2 innings. Kade Jensen and Nathan Wilkey each had a hit on the night. Carlos Ochoa, Chase Wilkey, and Kade Jensen each stole a base. The Redbird’s A & B team will be playing in the IVC tournament in GSW on Saturday at 11 against Mazon. If they win the first game, they will play against GSW right after.

Aug 27 – A Baseball:  Redbird’s A Team Baseball could not get the bats going in their 12-0 loss yesterday against Bishop Mac. Nathan Wilkey pitched 1.1 innings striking out 4 and Chase Wilkey threw 1.2 innings striking out 2. The Redbird’s only had 2 hits despite hitting the ball on the barrel all night. Nathan Wilkey and Kade Jensen each had a hit. They play against Prairie Central here at home at 4:30 today.

Aug 25 – A Baseball: Redbird’s A team baseball defeated Kankakee by a score of 19-1. Jaxon Lee pitched all 3 innings striking out 4 earning the win. The Redbird’s tallied 10 hits in the contest with doubles from Gunnar Severns, Jaxon Lee, Kade Jensen, and Nathan Wilkey. Dean Carey, Braxton Flahaut, Carlos Ochoa, and Jace Jensen. The players also stole 11 bases as well; Dean Carey had 4 stolen bases and Braxton Flahaut had 2 to lead the charge. The Redbird’s A Team plays at Bishop McNamara on Wednesday at 4:30.

Aug 19  – A Team Baseball beat Saratoga 7-5 by a walk-off ground-rule-double in extra innings from Kade Jensen. Jaxon Lee pitched 4 innings, Dean Carey pitched 2 innings, and Chase Wilkey pitched 2 innings. The Redbird’s had 9 hits in the contest. Dean Carey, Chase Wilkey, and Carlos Ochoa each contributed one hit. Kade Jensen, Nathan Wilkey, and Kevin Peterson had 2 hits each. The Redbird’s A team plays Wednesday at 4:15pm home against Seneca.

Aug 13 – The Redbird A Baseball team lost a close game to Gardner 4-3 on Wednesday night. The Redbirds struck first with 1 run in the first inning and packed on 2 more runs in the 3rd inning. Gardner scored 2 in the second, 1 in the 4th, and topped the game off with a walk-off in the 7th. The Redbirds together tallied 5 hits. Dean Carey, Nathan Wilkey, and Braxton Flahaut all had 1 hit. Kade Jensen had 2 hits with one being a 2 run homerun to left field. Nathan Wilkey pitched 2 innings, Kade Jensen pitched 3 innings, and Jaxon Lee pitched 2 innings. The Redbirds play a double header at Reed Custer at 10 am and 12pm this Saturday.
