Lions A Team Defeat Milford/Cissna Park Bats Behind Strong Performance From Kenzie Christensen – Advance to State
Kenzie Christensen was dominant in the circle, as the starting pitcher rang up 17 strikeouts in Lions A Team’s 10-5 victory over Milford on Tuesday. Kenzie gave up two hits and three runs over six innings while walking two. Kinley Delk worked hard behind the plate to back up her pitcher.
Lions A Team took the lead in the top of the third. Mya Rodriguez doubled, scoring three runs, to give the Lions the advantage, 3-2.
After a 2 hour rain/lightning delay, the Lions flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Kenzie that drove in two.
Lions A Team piled up eight hits in the game. Mya drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Team with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Kenzie led Lions A Team with three hits in four at bats. Sadie Farrero collected two hits for the Lions in three at bats. Emme Winchell also had a great bunt that scored one run and got her around the bases to third. Kenzie stole two bases.
