Barbara Ann Mortensen, 82, of Dwight, passed away on June 12, 2026 at The Arc nursing home in Dwight.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday June 16, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dwight, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Dwight.

Barb was born July 10, 1943, in Peoria, IL to Bill and Ella Corrie. She married Gene Mortensen on September 19, 1964, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He survives in Dwight. Also surviving are their 2 children: Chris and Michelle (Krogmeier) Mortensen of Dwight and Carrie Mortensen of Lexington, KY; grandchildren: Bryce and Jenna (Stevenson) Mortensen and Reece Mortensen both of Dwight; two brothers: Kenneth Michael Corrie of Mattoon, IL and Keith Mark Corrie of Heyworth, IL; two sisters: Jo Ellen Regenold and Christine Deborah Harrington, both of Pontiac, IL; two sisters-in-law: Betty Mortensen of Minier and Sharon Mortensen of Dwight; and many nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Lana Carole Reed of Princeville, IL.

Barb was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She was a 1962 graduate of Dwight Township High School. After graduation she worked as a key-punch operator for the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant near Joliet until her first child was born in 1968 when she decided to become a full-time housewife, and help with her husband’s printing business.

Barb’s hobbies included scrapbooking and making greeting cards. She loved listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. Barb will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
