Arnold D. “Arnie” Spandet, 74, of Las Vegas, Nevada
, passed away at his home surrounded by family. He was born November 2, 1951, in Streator, Illinois, and was raised in Dwight, Illinois.
Arnie was the son of the late Arnold and Rosemary Spandet. He was preceded in death by his siblings Steven Spandet, Ronald Spandet, and Carol Spandet, as well as his grandson James Jr. Spandet.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Spandet, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage; his daughter, Jennifer Spandet; and his sons, James Spandet and Brian Spandet. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren—Jacob Spandet, Matthew Kratochvil, Ezekiel Spandet, Immanuel Spandet, Zoemarrieon Spandet, Syndeah Spandet, and James Jr. Spandet, who passed before him—and his great‑granddaughter, Layla Kratochvil. Additional survivors include his brother, Peter Spandet, and his sisters, Carmilla Spandet and Martha Spandet.
Arnie was a true sportsman from an early age, playing baseball, basketball, and football in high school. His love of sports stayed with him throughout his life, especially as a loyal Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Whether watching a game, bowling, or traveling with family, he found joy in the simple moments shared with the people he loved.
He will be remembered most for the way he made people feel. Arnie was everyone’s friend—the kind of man who could light up a room with his smile, his stories, and his unforgettable jokes. He had a gift for making people laugh and making them feel welcome.
He also had a deep love for music, a passion he passed on to those around him. He taught his family to appreciate songs, singers, and the memories music can carry. And for the lucky ones, there was nothing quite like hearing him sing Elvis.
Arnie’s life was filled with laughter, loyalty, music, family, and friendship. He leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of warmth that will continue to live on in everyone who knew and loved him.
