
April 30
The Tigers traveled to Coal City for a meet with the hosts and Sandwich. Despite the rain and wind, the Tigers continued to show that hard work pays off and left with several PR’s. Tigers with PR’s in more than one event:

Owen Weikel in the 200 and Discus
James Muzzarelli in the 400 and 1600
Talon Mack in the 1600, Shot, and Discus
Harrison DeYoung in the Shot and Discus
The Girls saw PR’s from:
Eva Murphy in the hurdles and 400
Tori Mack in the shot put and discus
Sofia Antifueve in the shot put and discus
The Tigers travel to the Morris Invitational on Saturday.
April 25
On Saturday, April 25, the Tigers competed in the IVC track meet at Reed Custer. The all day IVC meet consisted of 10 teams and more intense competition for the Tigers. Our Tigers did not disappoint, displaying full effort on the track and in the field events.
Placing for the Tigers were:
Kash Olson 1st in the 400 and 3rd in the 800
Kash Kerner 4th in the 400
Jack Simms 2nd in the 800 and the 1600
Cal Christensen 5th in the 800, 4th in the 1600, and 6th in High Jump
Talon Mack 4th in the 1600
Jaxon Pluger 4th in the Hurdles, 8th in the Long Jump
Addie Slegl – 2nd in the 400 and 4th in the 800
Autumn Hencinski 3rd in the 1600 and 5th in the 800
Taylor Tjelle 8th in the 1600
Tori Mack 8th in the Discus
The Tigers also had several relay teams place in the meet.
April 20
GSWB Track athletes had a great night with several personal bests.
Talon Mack had an amazing night improving in the 1600, high jump and discus. Richard Foglio and Rylan Colclasure both improved their times in the sprints, while the Tigers saw solid finishes from Tyler Futia and Bo Maxard, who both competed in the 800 for the first time. Bo also continues to improve in the shot put.
The girls team saw big PRs from Emma Jackman and Briann Pumfrey in Discus, Presly Franciscovich and Emme Winchell in the 800, Olivia Castelli in the 200, Sophia Antiufeva in shot, and Mikayla Vertmatt in the Long Jump. Lucy DeYoung continues to step up each and every night to help out the girls team in different relays.
Other Tigers with PR’s in more than one event include Carter McNelis, Wyatt Yeattes, Anastasia Brown, and Tori Mack.
April 16
The Tigers participated in a 7 team event at Dwight. The 7th Grade Girls team finished in 2nd place. Led by 1st place finishers Addie Slegl in the 400, Autumn Hencinski in the 800 and 1600. The Tigers saw several team members contributing to the win. Other Top 3 finishers included Dixie Greiff with a 3rd in the discus, Addie was 2nd in High Jump followed by Taylor Tjelle in 3rd.
Mikayla Vermatt had a great night with a season best in the 100 and 400 where she finished 3rd.
Wyatt Yeates’s personal best earned him a 3rd place finish in the 200. In the distance events Jack Simms added a 1st place 1600, a 3rd place 400, and Cal Christensen added a personal best time and 3rd place finish in the 800.
Our 8th grade also showed up in the spotlight with Kash Olson earning first in the 400 and 800, and a 1st with the 1600 medley relay team along with Carter McNelis, Talon Mack and Cal. Talon also finished 3rd in Shot Put.
April 14
The GSWB Track team traveled to Seneca on Tuesday night. This meet featured some Tigers in different events than their usual and each and every one stepped up to the challenge. The team’s hard work and dedication led to some new personal bests despite the wind.
Improving their times on the track were:
Rollin Massey in the 200, Emme Winchell in the 100, and Jaxson Pluger and Anastasia Brown in the Hurdles.
The field events also showed some new personal bests from:
Harrison DeYoung, Emma Jackman, and Dixie Greiff in the discus, Jack Simms and Addie Slegl in the high jump, Carter McNelis and Rollin in the long jump, and Tori Mack, Bo Maxard and Hudson Eddy in Shot.
April 13
The boys distance runners of Talon Mack, James Muzzarelli, and Blake Maxard filled in a tough schedule with not much rest time off the track. The trio posted PRs and displayed their grit as they pushed through some tough spots to finish strong in each and every race. Dominic Kieta ran a strong leg of his 4 x 400 relay. Finding a PR for our boy throwers was Hudson Eddy. A bright spot was Bo Maxard who in his first night at shot against tough competition stepped up and had solid throws.
The Tigers are back at it tonight in Seneca.
April 9 – Dwight Track Meet
Congratulations to the track team on an amazing start to the season at the 6 team track meet in Dwight last night. A solid effort by all GSWB athletes as we saw each and every Tiger contribute to our overall team success. The 8th boys team was able to win the meet, while our 7th grade girls earned a 2nd place team finish.
Just a few of several highlights from the meet. Our 8th Grade Boys saw a 1-2 finish from Jaxson Pluger and Brent Kingman in the hurdles and Kash Olsen and Kash Kerner in the 400. The 4×100 relay of Harrison DeYoung, Richard Foglio, Cristian Quintero and Rylin Colclasure were also able to finish 3rd and add points to our team win.
The 7th grade boys 4×200 relay of Wyatt Yeates, Carter McNelis, Cal Christensen and Jack Simms finished in a convincing first place. Rollin Massey and Dominic Kieta had a great start to the season. Jack and James Muzzarelli had solid 1600 runs to start the season.
Dixie Greiff stepped up and threw well for the 7th grade girls and Addie Slegel and Taylor Tjelle added points at the high jump, and Anastasia Brown and Presley Franciscovich helped out in the hurdles. Aaliyah Barrera had some solid races and Autumn Hencinski showed her strength in 1600.
