Scholastic Bowl: The Scholastic Bowl Team traveled to Wallace Grade School for their Sectional Tournament last night competing against Palatine Quest Academy, Wallace, and Seneca schools. Palatine came out ahead as the winner and will head to State later this week. Redbird Tossups were fielded as follows:

April 21

Track:  The track team took part in the Livingston County Track meet yesterday.  On the boys side both the 7th and 8th grade team took 3rd place.  The 7th grade girls team placed 2nd and the 8th grade girls team are the Livingston County Champions with a first place finish!  Great job to all of our teams!  

 

March 19 Scholastic Bowl:

The Scholastic Bowl Teams were on-track at home last night against GSWB. Varsity won 260 to 70 and JV won 220 to 110. Varsity Tossups were fielded by Van Patten-5 and Carter Christenson-4  along with 1 each from  Sam Brownfield, Natalie Heikkila, and Leo Jahn. JV Tossups were fielded by Sam Brownfield-4,  Aidan Schmidt-3, Dean Carey-2 and Stone Skelton-1. Congratulations on a double win night.

 

March 19 Spelling:

Josh Shireman and Allie Hansen competed against eleven IVC schools’ spellers last night in the IVC Spelling Bee held at Seneca. Allie, along with two other students, tied for first in the 7th grade division, and Josh tied for 2nd, along with one other student, in the 6th grade division. Congratulations Allie & Josh- well done! 8th grader Brealyn Robinson was the overall winner. Team placements were Morris-1st, Saratoga-2, and Coal City-3rd.

 

March 17 Scholastic Bowl: 

The Scholastic Bowl Red birds traveled to Wilmington yesterday for back-to-back matches.  In a tie after 24 tossup-and-bonus combinations, the Redbird JV SchoBo Team went into a nail-biting OT and came out victorious, with Nora Goesch correctly answering both bonuses for the Team. The final JV score was Dwight 180 and Wilmungton 160. JV had great communication and teamwork throughout the match! The Varsity fell to the Wildcats 310 to 110.

March 11

Volleyball: Last night the 8th VB season came to an end with a loss to Gardner in Regionals. The Lady Redbirds came out ready to play and put their heart and souls on the court to play a well fought game. 

Delilah Bowman and  Paulina Cano each had a dig.

Delani Leonard had 2 digs.

Avery Watters had 2 aces, 3 digs and an assist.

Claire Tjelle had 2 aces, 2 digs, 3 kills and a block.

Lila Tjelle had an ace, a dig, an assist and 3 kills.

Skylar Burke had an ace, a dig, 4 assists and a kill.

Libby Stipanovich had an ace and a dig.

March 5 Scholastic Bowl: 

The Redbirds Scholastic Bowl Teams traveled to MVK School yesterday afternoon for double, head-to-head matches.  They split the night with Varsity Redbirds winning with a score of 290 to 180. JV was a tight match but in the end MVK won with a score of 175 to 160.  It was a great night of teamwork. Tossups were earned as follows:

Leo Jahn-4, Van Patten-3, and Sam Brownfield-3 for the Varsity. Natalie Heikkila, Carter Christenson, Presley Carman, and Bella Perez assisted with bonuses. JV tossups were fielded by Dean Carey-3, Nora Goesch-3, Aidan Schmidt-1, and Ari Wiles-1. Stone Skelton assisted with bonuses. Both teams travel to Odell tomorrow for the Livingston County Tournament. Best

Volleyball: 
The Lady Redbirds lost in the first round of regionals to Lockport Kelvin Grove. The scores were 25-17, 23-25, 21-25. It was a tough loss that ended the 7th grade season. The lead scorers are below:

Feb 26

Volleyball: 

The 6th grade volleyball team faced Northlawn last night. The “A” team came out strong and won 25-16 and 25-21. The girls had a good night from the service line and worked hard together on the court.

Lucy Cotter had 9 aces and 1 dig, 1 assist, and 3 kills

Evelyn Hansen had 4 aces, 1 dig, 1 assist, and 2 kills

Willow Riber had 1 kill

Ally Wilkey added 1  ace, 1 dig, and 1 kill

The “B” team also played Northlawn last night. The girls got off to a slow start in the first set losing, but coming back in the second set but ending up falling short.

Volleyball: 

The Lady Redbirds played Woodland on the LCT. The Redbirds came ready to play, were aggressive on the court, and battled for every point but had a tough loss to Woodland after 2 very close sets.

Libby Stipanovich had an ace and a kill.

Skylar Burke had 7 aces, 2 digs, 5 assists and a kill.

Lila Tjelle had 3 kills.

Claire Tjelle had an ace, 2 digs and a kill.

Delani Leonard had an ace, 2 digs and 2 kills.

Delilah Bowman had 4 aces.

Feb 24

Scholastic Bowl

The Scholastic Bowl Teams hosted Channahon and split the evening. Varsity fell with a score of Channahon 390 & Dwight 180. Captain Van Patten fielded 4 tossups; Carter Christenson and Sam Brownfield each chipped in 1. Natalie Heikkila, Bella Perez, and Presley Carmen assisted with bonuses.

In JV action, 

Co-captains Dean Carey and Aiden Schmidt led their team to victory with Dwight scoring 280 to Channahon’s 150. 

Tossups were fielded by Nora Goesch with 8, Aiden Schmidt with 4, and Stone Skelton with 1. Ari Wiles assisted the team with bonuses.

 

Feb 23

The 7th grade Lady Redbirds lost to Kankakee Junior High in 2 sets. 

The leading scorers were: 

Izzy Pittenger- 1 ace, 3 digs, 5 assist, 1 kill

Allie Hanson- 1 dig, 1 assist, 1 kill

Ari Boyer- 3 kills

Last night the Lady Redbirds fell to Kankakee after 2 sets. We started off a little slow the first set but in the second set we were competing for each point and setting the ball up more.

Lila Tjelle had 1 assist and 2 kills.

Skylar Burke had 4 aces, 1 assist and 1 kill.

Volleyball: 

The 6th grade A team played Indian Waterman Indian Creek Saturday and won 25-17 and 25-22. The girls had good serves, talked, and worked together on the court.

The 8th Lady Redbirds come home with 2 wins over the weekend against Serena on Friday night and Watermen Indian Creek at home on Saturday. 

In the game against Serena, the Redbirds came back from behind in both sets to secure the win. They played aggressively and were working together as a team to keep attacking the other team. As a team, they had 18 kills and 14 assists.

Avery Watters had 4 digs.

Claire Tjelle had 1 ace, 3 digs, 3 assists, 9 kills and 1 block.

Lila Tjelle had 1 ace, 2 assists and 4 kills.

On Saturday against Watermen, the Redbirds fell in the first set but came out stronger and more confident in the next 2 sets to secure the win.

Volleyball: 

The 7th Grade Lady Redbirds took on Bishop Mac last evening and lost in two set.  Stats for the evening.

The 8th Grade Lady Redbirds played against two tough teams over the long weekend. On Thursday night the Redbirds travelled to Morris Grade School and lost in 2 sets.

On Monday night, we played at home against Bishop Mac. Though we lost in two sets against a good team, the Redbirds were hustling on the court and making some diving saves.

Scholastic Bowl:  The Redbird Scholastic Bowl Teams traveled to Woodland School yesterday in two down to-the-wire matches for their opening day. Our Varsity and JV Teams championed until the very end but came away with Woodland scoring 370 to Dwight’s 360 in the Varsity match and Woodland 300 to 270 in the JV match. Varsity Toss ups were fielded as follows:
