The MVK Senior Citizens met April 21, 2026 at the Mazon American Legion building in Mazon at noon.

The prayer was given by Nancy Johnson before the meal which was catered by Hoffman House through the Community Nutrition Network for Senior Citizens.  The ladies and gentlemen enjoyed a meal of ham with pineapple, scalloped potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, mandarin oranges, cake, and beverages all for a $5 donation.

The meeting was brought to order at 12:45 by President Beth Burns with 27 people  and one guest attending.  We all said the Pledge of Allegiance and had a moment of silence.  The secretary Nancy Johnson gave the report of last month and it was accepted as read with a motion and second by Joe and Diane.  We celebrated the birthdays of four of our attendees.  The treasurer’s report was given by Shirley Peterson with a motion and second to accept given by Jan and Shirley.

The Grundy County Health Dept representative gave information about a new senior citizens center that will be starting in the future at what is now the county administration building in Morris.  She also handed out interest surveys to attendees today.  The Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Days will be May 3, 4, 5.  May 20 will be the Senior Expo in Morris at Jennifer’s Gardens.  Upcoming soon will be a speaker from Ortiz Eye Center.

Door prizes were won by Nancy, Harriet, and Charlotte.  Our next dinner and meeting will be May 19 with euchre at 10:30, lunch at noon, meeting, and Bingo.  A motion and second to adjourn were given by betty and Harriet.
