Dwight Historical Society to Host Events During Red Carpet Corridor Weekend

 

Dwight HistoricalThe Dwight Historical Society is sponsoring several events this weekend during the Red Carpet Corridor celebration.

The museum will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm in the Historic Depot.  A new exhibit highlights businesses on Route 66.  Pictures and fun facts are included for many of the diners, gas stations, retail businesses, etc. that welcomed visitors through Dwight.

There will be an Old Time Baseball Game in Renfrew Park starting at 1PM Saturday.  The Blue Island Brewmasters and the Lemont Quarrymen will play following 1858 rules.

The Country Mansion Garden Room will be the location for a panel discussion beginning at 2PM Sunday.  Local residents will share their experiences of working on the iconic road.  A trivia contest will begin at approximately 3PM after the panel discussion.  Bring your team of 2-5 friends and test your knowledge.

The Society will also be selling tickets for a Route 66/Dwight, IL quilt and pottery during these events as well as at the Ambler/Becker station.
