Update (6/10/2025): As previously released by Livingston County Coroner Mike Renner, the decedents were identified as Joseph Martin, age 59, and his son, Braden Martin, age 25. Both resided together and were the only subjects present during the incident. Autopsies were conducted in McLean County on June 7, 2025. Preliminary postmortem findings list cause of death for Joseph as two gunshot wounds to the upper torso from close proximity. The cause of death for Braden was a single gunshot wound to the chest from a contact proximity.

There was no evidence of any type of struggle that had occurred within the residence prior to the incident. Toxicology results are still pending and the investigation remains open.
