On February 27, 2025 Christopher A. Hil, age 36 an inmate at the Pontiac Correctional Center died at the prison. He was found unresponsive in his cell. First aid was administered by staff. PontiacFire and medical were called to the scene at approx. 10:37 a.m. The inmate died on scene and was pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m.

The Livingston County Coroner’s office and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene and are conducting the investigation. No foul play is suspected.

An autopsy si scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 to determine the cause and manner of death.
