Verla L. (Cook) Hill-Zimmerman, 98 years old, formerly of Pekin, Illinois died peacefully in her sleep November 19, 2022 at Heritage Health, Dwight, Illinois. Born October 30, 1924, an only child, to Elmer and Beuhla Cook, she relocated with her parents from Iowa to Pekin, Illinois in 1928, residing there until 2021. She is predeceased by her first husband, Ova (Joe) Hill 1942-1997; her second husband, Eldon Zimmerman 1998-2013; and son, Blake Hill. She has one surviving daughter, Janice (Zimmerman) Mc Clean of Braceville, Illinois. Verla graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1942 and furthered her education in accounting at I.C.C. She was employed in Caterpillar’s accounting department and also H.R. Block. Verla was a member of Pekin First Christian Church, serving on various committees, later becoming an active member of Pekin First United Methodist Church, and most recently an attendee of Dwight United Methodist Church. She participated in the Peoria Amateur Radio Club, enjoyed bowling, flowers, Chihuahuas, milk chocolate, and fellowship with her family and friends. She lived her life as a committed Christian, bringing joy to all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court St., Pekin, IL 61554 and/or Dwight United Methodist Church, 701 S. Columbia, Dwight, IL 60420.
