Daniel “Butch” Lewandowski, age 77, of Dwight passed away at his home in Dwight, Illinois on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Visitation was held at Hager Memorial Home on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2 until 5 p.m. Funeral services were held Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11 a.m., also at the Memorial Home. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight, followed the services. Memorials in honor of Daniel may be made to the Grundy County 4-H. Hager Memorial Home in Dwight was in charge of arrangements. Daniel was born January 23, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Nettie (Powers) Lewandowski. He married Mary Burger on November 11, 1967 in Mazon, Illinois. She survives in Dwight, Illinois. Also surviving are daughters: Danah (Matt) Kenney and Margo (Terry) Oxendine, both of Verona, Illinois; grandchildren: Ryann Kenney, Erinn Kenney, Alex and Scott Valentine, Nikole Oxendine and Dylan (Taylor) Oxendine; great-grandchildren: DeeDee Valentine, Mia Gregoire, and Griffin Oxendine; his brother, Tom Lewandowski of Pontiac; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alex Lewandowski, John Lewandowski, Harry Lewandowski, and Terry Lewandowski; and sisters, Delores Burton and Shirley Whiteside. Before retiring, Daniel was the owner and operator of Cropmate in Blackstone. He worked for the Mazon Farmer’s Elevator in Mazon, Illinois; and owned the Clark gas stations in Pontiac and Morris. He enjoyed country dancing, bowling, showing ponies and horses, but he loved watching his grandchildren play sports, dance, and show horses. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
