Mrs. Charlotte G. Vercelli passed away September 19, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born to Josephine and Floyd Grieff of Mazon, Illinois on August 30, 1938. Charlotte met her future husband, Chuck, from Wilmington, Illinois while working at the Army Ordnance Command in Joliet, IL in 1956. They married on August 25, 1957. The couple moved several times after Chuck joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958, and Charlotte bore four children in four different states. During their early marriage, Char often sacrificed for her family by working two jobs. Char worked in the Federal Civil Service for many years, until she retired from the Maxwell Air War College, where she assisted Allied Military personnel. Charlotte was survived by her children: Charles E. Vercelli, Jr. (Lisa) of Pike Road, AL and Dana V. Stull (Barry) of Wilmington, NC. Her youngest child, Jeanine, died only hours after she did. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Chris Vercelli (Michelle), Lauren McLaughlin (Matt), Anna Vercelli, Matthew Stull, Logan Stull, Tristan Stull, Evan Stull, Katie Horn, and Chipper Horn (Chaney). She was also the proud great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren: Kylie Vercelli, Dylan Vercelli, Caden Camp, Ryleigh Camp, Thomas McLaughlin, and Daniel McLaughlin. Also surviving are her sister, Betty Leake of Verona, IL, and numerous nephews and nieces. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Charles E. Vercelli (Chuck or Butch to his Illinois family); her daughter, Kimberly Jo Vercelli; and her sister, Barbara G. Kenney. The family planned a Celebration of Charlotte’s Life on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the home of her son, Chip, at 1056 Merrywood Dr., Pike Road, AL 36064 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Disabled American Veterans; https.//www.dav.org
