Charlotte Fatlan, age 89, of Braceville, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Charlotte was the eighth born of 13 children to the late John and Katherine Mack (nee Wisneski) on June 13, 1932 in Whiting, Indiana. She married Earl “Shorty” Fatlan, Sr. on February 26, 1949 in Morris, Illinois. Together they started their family in Gardner and then built their forever home along the Mazon Creek in rural Braceville, where she grew up swimming and ice skating with her siblings, and years later with her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived almost her entire life on Huston Road. In the 1950s together with her brother-in-law, Leo, they started Fatlan Trucking in Gardner. Charlotte enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and sitting around the campfire at the family club that her parents started, the J & K Rancho. A master gardener, she often canned and shared goodies with all of her family and friends. She loved playing the organ and polka dancing at all of the Mack family weddings. Everyone was welcome at her table for coffee and toast and were treated like family. Charlotte instilled a love of family that will endure for generations to come. Surviving are her five children: Earl Jr. “Shorty” (Debbie) Fatlan; Bruce Fatlan, Sr.; Duane (Susan) Fatlan; Debra (Pete) Pierce; and Donna (Rick) Marketti; grandchildren: Amy (John) Kelly, Melissa (Scott) Kramer, Bruce Jr. (Beth) Fatlan, Michelle (Kris) Foster, Brian (Jill) Fatlan, Candace (Matt) Pluger, Kristin (Anthony) Lissy, Jenny (Daniel) Harvey, Betsy (Bryan) Hennessy, and Blake (Sabrina) Marketti.
