Sharon Knop, age 79, of Verona, Illinois died Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois. Born January 4, 1943 in Joliet, Illinois, Sharon Lee was a daughter of Walter and Eloise (Clark) Jones. She was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School. She continued on at Joliet Junior College, and later went to work for RR Donnelley in Dwight, from where she retired following more than 20 years of service. Sharon was a former member of Ritchey United Methodist Church, and most recently belonged to Mazon United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed being active with the Mazon Womens Club in past years. One who was selfless and always giving to others, Sharon enjoyed sewing and was always making something. She took pleasure in both gardening and canning and will be remembered for her love of garage sales. Family always remained the center of Sharon’s life, and nothing brought her greater joy than to see her family blossom with grandchildren and great – grandchildren, whom she cherished. Survivors include her husband, Larry Knop, who she married November 18, 1972; five children: Chuck (Marcy) Hood of Morris; Venita Hood (Brenda Barnhart) of Yorkville; Mitzi (Robert) Anderson of Morris; Ellen (Paul) Page of Ottawa; and Jami Knop of Verona. Thirteen grandchildren: Tim (Chen) Hood of Morris; Ashley Hood of Kentucky; Carley Hood and Hayley Hood, both of Morris; Steffani (John) Bearden of Missouri; Alexandra Anderson, Katelyn Anderson and Donielle Anderson, all of Morris; Elizebeth Knop, Rebecca Page, David Page, Isabella Benson and Brianna Benson, all of Ottawa; six great-grandchildren: Nico, Arianna, Matthew, Michael, Piper and Kieran: one brother, Vance (Judi) Jones of Morris; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Brittany; two great-granddaughters, Mia and Madison; and one sister, Venita, in infancy. Cremation rites were accorded. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 E. Washington St. (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris on Saturday, Febru-ary 26, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 12:00 noon. Pastor Kevin Yandell will officiate.
