Raymond A Gannaway, 81, formerly of Dwight, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 in San Diego, California. He was born September 4, 1940 in Shelby County, Illinois to Thelma Theola (Ross) and Lester McKinley Gannaway. They preceded him in death. Ray married Martha P Black on July 21, 1972 in Dwight. Together they lived in Dwight until June of 2020 when they moved to California to be near Martha’s family. She survives. Raymond served in the United States Army from 1961-1964. He retired from Fox Center after working there for 29 years. He was a member of the Dwight United Methodist Church. Ray is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Black, and his brother-in-law, Bill (Lorraine) Black, all of San Diego, California, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Gannaway of Pontiac, Illinois. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Forrest, and two sisters, Tobie Miller and Christine Mahoney. Inurnment will be in the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
