Daniel G. Bennett, 51, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 10, 2021. A celebration of life will be from 12 until 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, at Seals – Campbell Funeral Home, Marseilles, Illinois. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. following the celebration at the funeral home with Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. The family requests that you wear your favorite flannel shirt to honor Dan. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca, where he will be laid to rest near his mother. Due to current State of Illinois guidelines, face coverings will be required. He was born on January 23, 1970, in Verona, Illinois to Gary and Karen (Biros) Bennett. Daniel graduated from M-V-K High School with the class of 1988. He formerly worked for Alumax Aluminum Company in Morris and was a Local 75 Laborer in Joliet, Illinois. His career with CSX Railroad spanned 26 years. He started his career with them as a conductor out of Seneca-Ottawa line and went on to be an engineer out of the Queensgate yard in Cincinnati, Ohio. Daniel proudly advanced to railroad dispatch at the CSX home office in Jacksonville, Florida. He was also a Union member of the railroad and a lifelong member of the Masons. He loved a good game of euchre, fishing, and riding around in his golf cart. He enjoyed talking with friends, listening to ’70s country music, grilling by the pool, and riding in Cadillacs. He also loved playing a round of golf with his daughter, Danielle. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Julie; his daughter, Danielle; his father, Gary Bennett of Verona; his sister, Angie (Joel) Issert; and his niece and nephew, Alex and Tyler of Wilmington. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Karen; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
