PONTIAC – Delmar E. Norgaard, 94, of Pontiac, Illinois passed away Monday evening, December 13, 2021 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Cremation rites were accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight, Illinois. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Delmar’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Delmar was born August 23, 1927 in Emington, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Agatha (Eich) Norgaard. He is survived by his son, Terry (Mary Jo) Norgaard of Pontiac, Illinois; and his daughter, Sonia (Grant) Oppenhuis of Lansing, Illinois. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Jeff (Sheina) Norgaard of Highland, Illinois; Tracy (Ken) Simmons of Griffith, Indiana; Paul Oppenhuis of Manhattan, Illinois; and Kayla Oppenhuis of Lansing, Illinois; five cherished great-grandchildren: Gracelynn, Dalton, Hannah, and Lucia Norgaard, and Addison Oppenhuis; a sister, Doris Carter of Pontiac, Illinois, and by many nieces and nephews. Delmar was preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. Norgaard; his parents, Elmer and Agatha Norgaard; his siblings, Lorraine Norgaard and Betty Norgaard; and his granddaughter, Teresa Jo Norgaard. Delmar graduated from Saunemin Township High School. He worked at Honegger’s Hatchery for some years before pursuing a career in insurance sales. He eventually owned “The Norgaard Agency,” an insurance and real estate brokerage business, for over 30 years. He was a long-standing member of the Lions Club and served as Lions District Governor.
