DWIGHT – Carol J. Simmons, 86, formerly of Campus, passed away November 27, 2021 at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee. Carol was born January 17, 1935, in Jamaica, Illinois, daughter of Eldon and Ruth (Lane) Rosnett. She married Charles Simmons on February 26, 1953 in Fairmount, Illinois. He survives in Dwight. Also surviving are her daughter, Diana (Glen) Leerhoff of Clark, Missouri; sons: David Simmons of Campus; Dale (Valerie) Simmons of Buckingham; and Douglas (Lori) Simmons of Braidwood; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Millikin of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Rosnett. Carol worked as the owner of a beauty salon in Campus. She also developed one of her hobbies (crafts) into a small business. The crafts kept her busy from producing items to attending and participating in shows. According to Carol, family was her greatest accomplishment and joy in life. That was evident by her selfless attention to family needs. Always the optimist, Carol’s smile and contagious laugh could and would light up any room. She was a pleasure to be around.
