Roy D. Koehler, age 92, of Gardner, Illinois passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Born June 30, 1929 in Paxton, Illinois, Roy Dale was a son of Raymond E. and Hazel (Neiswander) Koehler. On September 11, 1948, Roy married Betty Jean Porth, and together made their home. Roy worked as a truck driver for 45 years, and retired from Fatlan Trucking Company. He belonged to First Congregational Church in Dwight, was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Morris Lodge 967, and was inducted into the Grundy County Speedway Hall of Fame. In addition to racing, Roy enjoyed golfing. Survivors include his wife, Betty; son, Raymond Koehler of Florida; and daughter, Cindy Riccolo of Indiana; eight grandchildren: Brandon Riccolo, Tina Greaves, Denny Strope, Gerald Koehler, Chantel Sefcik, Michelle Koehler, Clifton Koehler and Dodd Koehler; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Ohrem of Texas; and Luke Koehler of Reddick; his brother-in-law, John LeRoy Porth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter-in-law, Connie Koehler. Per Roy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and he will be laid to rest at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight.
