James W. “Jim” Coleman, 71, of Dwight, IL passed away at 10:19 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2021 at his home. Private graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Memorials in James’ name may be made to the Livingston County Humane Society. Jim was born in Decaturville, TN on September 16, 1949 to Clyde L. and Ruth N. (Polan) Coleman. He is survived by sisters: Kathryn (Larry) Turner of Dwight and Pat (Terry) Kiper of Oswego, IL; nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Ron) Aldred of Pontiac; Angela (Geoff) Koca of Dwight; Kristina (Jared) Anderson of Dwight; Jason (Iris) Kiper of Plano; Ryan Kiper of Oswego, IL; and Ashley Carlson of Winnetka, IL; great-nieces and nephews: Nora, Sophia, and Ryker Anderson; Jordyn and Josef Kiper; and Austin and Alayna Airgood. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Coleman. Jim proudly served in the United States Army, in the infantry, in the Vietnam War. At the end of the conflict he was awarded the bronze star. He retired from Caterpillar after working in Joliet for more than 20 years. Jim enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley, and going for a walk or bike ride. He was very much loved and will be dearly missed.
