Delores Huston passed at home Sunday evening, February 21, 2021 with her family at her side. She leaves behind Bill, her loving husband of 61 years; her son, Jeffrey (Tina); daughter-in-law, Andrea; grandchildren: Eric, Mallory and Paige; sister, Elaine Stonemark; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her son, John William; infant daughter, Sally Ann; and her sister, Lois Vigna (Barney). Delores was born to Joseph and Mary Sandeno and grew up on the family farm in Gardner, IL and eventually moved to CA as a wife and mother in 1961. The Huston family eventually settled in University City, a new family development. Delores worked hard as a mother, wife, and tireless volunteer. Along with other UC families, she was instrumental in helping to develop the little league fields where her sons later played. She volunteered for many years at Project Concern, a local women’s shelter; she worked as a realtor; and also started a Cub Scout pack in UC. When her sons were grown, she started a second career at General Atomics, where she worked 20+ years. Delores was a Renaissance woman who was loved by everyone who met her and will be deeply missed. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. Cremation rites have been accorded. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there is limited capacity allowed at the church for her memorial service, it will be held privately at the United Lutheran Church with the inurnment following in Gardner Prairie Cemetery. All family, friends and former classmates are invited to a Celebration of Delores’ life, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the United Lutheran Church in Gardner at approximately 1:00 p.m. R. W.
