Robert M. Long, 80, of Pontiac passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 8:05 a.m. at Evenglow Health Center in Pontiac. A graveside service with full military rites was held Monday, October 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. in McDowell Cemetery, Dwight, IL. Robert was born January 18, 1940 in Pinckneyville, IL to James Monroe and Elizabeth Pearl (McCarthy) Long. He married Delma Lucille Savage on December 25, 1959 in Mt. Vernon, IL. She passed away October 8, 2012. Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his children: Kim (Pat) Condon of Pontiac, IL; Craig (Lisa) Long of Bloomington, IL; and Scott (Christy) Long of Pontiac, IL; a brother, Jesse (Jo) Long of Wisconsin; a sister, Kathryn Wolfe of Michigan; grandchildren: Amie, Christin (Adam), Amber, Heather, Branden, Austin, and Devin; great-grandchildren: Max, Maizie, Della, Makenna, Bristol, Aubree, and Noah; and special friend, Joan Francis of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delma; three sisters; and one brother. Robert was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, class of 1957. He served in the United States National Guard. He was a truck driver for many years and a custodian at Dwight High School. Robert was a member of Dwight United Methodist Church in Dwight, IL. He loved spending time with his family, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
