Carl Wayne Carlson, 71, of Odell, IL  passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 8:55 a.m. in his home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Duffy – Baier – Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Carl was born Wednesday, September 7, 1949 to the late Vincent and Virginia (Garlic) Carlson in Tipton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Tipton High School in Tipton, Iowa. He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1970-71, based largely at Fort Knox, Kentucky, but also in Washington State and Detroit, Michigan. He was employed with Caterpillar Inc. for 25 years, until he retired in 2003. He enjoyed metal detecting, spending time with good friends, and most of all, spending time with his faithful, loving four-legged companion, Cookie. Carl had a generous spirit and would help anyone. His kind spirit will be remembered by many, to include his son, Stuart Carlson; daughter, Olivia (Travis) Johnson; grandchildren, Kyle Johnson, Kallie Johnson, Brandon Carlson, Nikki Carlson, Aubrey Carlson, and Morgan Carlson; brother, Charles (Linda) Carlson; and sisters, Linda Hillyer and Becky (Stan) Severin; and many nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlotte “Mimi” Contreras; and brother-in-law, Donald Hillyer. Condolences may be sent to Olivia Johnson, 37 Charvel Drive, Belleville, IL 62226.
