Betty Jean Mixen, 68, of Pontiac passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. Cremation rites were accorded with services to be held at a later date. Duffy – Baier – Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Betty was born March 8, 1952 in Pontiac, IL to John and Norma Jean (Stone) Lewandowski. She married Patrick Mixen on February 14, 1992 in Pontiac. He survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are her son, Troy William Lawless of Rantoul, IL; sisters, Joleen (Keith) Kelly of Mazon, IL and Norma (Dan) Rice of Lexington, IL; brother, Quent McCue of Crescent City, IL; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Patrick James “PJ” Lawless. Betty was a graduate of Gilman High School. She worked for many years as the manager of the Gilman Dairy Queen and later the Chenoa Dairy Queen. She was also a cashier for the Chenoa and Lexington grocery stores.
