William J. “Bill” DuPont, 89, of Dwight, IL passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at his home in Dwight, IL. Funeral services were held at 5 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight, IL, with Pastor John Mueller officiating. Visitation was held two hours prior to the services and Military Rites followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dwight, IL. Memorials in honor of Bill may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Hager Memorial Home in Dwight was in charge of arrangements. Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 28, 1931 to Wilfred J. and Theresa R. (Buffo) DuPont. He married Geneva Jackson in 1953. He later married Margaret Joyce in 1974; sadly she died of cancer in 1982. He married Holly Chen in Shanghai, China in 1989. She survives in Dwight. He is also survived by his daughter, Audrey DuPont; step-daughters: Susan Gail and Ellen Joyce; two grandchildren: Danielle and Anthony; eight nephews: Carl, David, Dan, Robert, John, Lewis, Sandy and Billy Holm; cousin, Mike Compasso; and good friend and close neighbor, Carlos Lozano. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gordon DuPont; brother, Eugene; and sisters, Rose and Delores. He graduated from GSW High School in 1948. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, and spent 14 months in Korea with the 64th Field Artillery. He worked for CAT in Joliet for more than 30 years.
