DWIGHT – Richard L. Vaughn, 77, of Dwight, IL passed away at 4:21 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2020 as the result of a motorcycle accident in rural Pontiac, IL. Cremation rites were accorded, and a graveside service will be held at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Memorials in Richard’s name may be made to St. Jude’s or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, IL is handling the arrangements. Richard was born September 12, 1942 in Morris, IL, a son of Vernon and Mildred (Christensen) Vaughn. Surviving are three brothers: Jim Vaughn of Willard, MO; Alan (Cathy) Vaughn, Gettysburg, PA, Raymond Vaughn of Dwight; three sisters: Dorothy (Skip) Hahn of Dwight, IL; Margaret Bormet (Jim Breeden) of Loda, IL; and Elizabeth (Don) Elsey of Dwight; and several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Vaughn; sisters-in-law, Judy Vaughn and Sue Vaughn; brother-in-law, Glen Bormet; and two nieces. Richard attended Dwight schools and was employed by Caterpillar, Joliet, IL; Heritage Health, Dwight, IL; and the Village of Dwight. He served our country in the US Air Force.
