MAZON – Dolores “Boo” Johnson, age 81, of Mazon passed away Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2020 in her home surrounded by family. Born May 26, 1938 in Morris, Illinois, Dolores Eleanor was a daughter of Gerald and Evelyn (Maier) Misener. She was raised and educated in Morris; graduated from St. Angela Academy; and went on to attend St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in LaSalle. On September 5, 1959, Dolores married Arvid Maurice “Maurie” Johnson in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Seneca. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother of eight, grandmother of 15, and great-grandmother of four, Dolores provided childcare for many local families throughout the years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinsman and served with the Altar and Rosary Society. Dolores loved nothing more than the time spent with her family. Whether it be gatherings for the holidays, going on family vacations, or playing a heated game of canasta, Dolores especially cherished time spent with those near and dear to her heart. A great collector, she enjoyed antiquing and flea markets, often times adding to her collection of salt and pepper shakers, Precious Moments, and spoons. Dolores shared in wonderful memories of traveling to Hawaii with Maurie, and looked forward to the annual trips to the Covered Bridge Festival with their great friends. Dedicated to her family and blessed with an abundant life, Dolores “Boo” Johnson leaves behind many treasured memories for her family to enjoy forever. May they always remember her warm and nurturing ways, as well as her wonderful guidance, to comfort them in the years to come. Survivors include her eight children: Christine Manning of Bourbonnais; Kathleen Borchelt of Morris; Colleen Blair of Ransom; Tim (Jane) Johnson of Kempton; Scott Johnson of Mazon; Carrie (Michael) Coughlin of Mazon; Allison Fiedler of Joliet; and Andrew Johnson of Mazon. Fifteen grandchildren: Jacob Manning of Kansas City, Missouri; John Borchelt and Steven Borchelt of Morris; Abbie (Matthew) Wilson of Seneca; Katlin Blair and Maggie Blair of Ransom; Michael Johnson of Dwight; Emily Johnson of Kempton; Chase (Eileen) Johnson of New Lenox; Taelor (Nick) Stuedemann of Morris; Terah Coughlin of Verona; Michaela Coughlin of Mazon; and Drake Fiedler, Colten Fiedler and Madison Fiedler of Joliet survive. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren: Patrick and Teresa Manning, Rhett Stuedemann, and Brooks Callahan; brothers: Joseph (Pat) Misener of Morris and Kevin (Cora) Misener of Marseilles; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Misener of Aurora; Pamela Floyd of Joliet; Wendell (Sharon) Johnson of Morris and Richard (Tina) Johnson of Morris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished lifelong friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Arvid “Maurie;” parents, Gerald and Evelyn Misener; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arvid, Sr. and Fern (Skolen) Johnson; brothers: Howard Misener and Arthur Misener; sister, Mary (Ken) Qually; and brother-in-law, Russell Johnson. A private family visitation and service will be held with Rev. Stanley Drewniak from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinsman presiding. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Morris, where Dolores will be laid to rest with her late husband, Maurie.
