DWIGHT – Kevin Smith, 63, of Dwight passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. Kevin was born on January 4, 1957 in Berwyn, IL to Harry and Marilyn (Lovitt) Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Michele (Rev. Dr. Joe Marek) Vonderheide of Rockford, IL; sons, Eric (Ruby Lopez) Smith of Somerton, AZ; Anthony (Samantha) Smith of Duluth, MN.; and Gregory Smith of Coleraine, MN; brother, Dana (Yvonne) Smith of Westminster, CO; grandchildren: Grace, Ryan, Dahlia and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Greg and Stan Smith. He worked for Halliburton and Hydrochem Chemical for more than 40 years. Kevin enjoyed music, movies, watching his Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. He had a fierce love for his family and spent as much time with them as possible and will be most remembered for his love of family and his generous spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight with Rev. Dr. Joe Marek officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will take place at a later date.
