PONTIAC – Betty J. Burton, 90, of Pontiac died at 12:15 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 at Pontiac Health-care and Rehab in Pontiac.
Cremation rites were accorded with burial in Southside Cemetery, Pontiac, at a later date.
Betty was born March 18, 1926 in Pontiac, daughter of Edward C. and Bessie Moon Hamilton.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Tom) Verdun of Odell; her son, Jim Burton of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four grandpuppies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two brothers; three sons: Hugh Burton, Jr., John Burton and Joe Burton; one daughter, Jane Highland; and one great-grandson, Christopher.
Betty worked as a cook for many years at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pontiac.
Known to everyone as “Grannie,” Betty loved spending time with her grandkids, great-grandkids, and grand-puppies, and enjoyed car rides and breakfast with friends.
