DWIGHT – Lois Matzen, 91, of Dwight passed away peacefully in her sleep at 11:10 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Heritage Health, Dwight.
Lois was born and raised in the Odell area by her parents, Carl and Mary Agnes Guyon Oelschlager. She married John R. Matzen of Dwight in September, 1943. John preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, at birth; her sister, Mary Ruth Sarti; and two brothers: Donald Oelschlager and Robert J. Oelschlager.
Lois leaves behind three sons: Ronald R. Matzen and Donald R. (Linda) Matzen, both of Dwight; and John (Susan) Matzen of Morris; one daughter, Joan (Dick) Schoup of Odell; five grand-children; several greatgrandchildren; one brother, Kenny Oelschlager of Dwight; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois worked for several years in the custodial department at the First National Bank of Dwight. The majority of her life was spent as a homemaker, loving mother, and a fun grandmother to be with.
She loved working in her garden and flowerbeds, though she did like having a break with her Miller Lite in the afternoon.
Through the wishes of Lois, there will be no funeral services. Memorial donations may be made to the choice of the donor, or to the family.
