Alfred J. Muzzarelli

SOUTH WILMINGTON – Alfred J. “Alfie” Muzzarelli, 93, formerly of South Wilmington, late of Dwight, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Heritage Health in Dwight.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 8, from 5 until 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, South Wilmington Chapel, Friday, October 9, at 10 a.m. Rev. Kevin Boesen will officiate.

Interment will follow in Braceville – Gardner Cemetery, Braceville.

Alfred was born October 14, 1921 in South Wilmington, son of Geaton and Ida Bondioli Muzzarelli. He graduated from Gardner-South Wilmington High School, Class of 1939. He retired in 1982 from Caterpillar, Inc. in Joliet, following 31 years of employment.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in South Wilmington and had served the church as Chairman of the Board for several years. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1943-1945. He

was a member of VFW Post #2608 in Dwight.

Alfred spent many hours volunteering at Heritage Health in Dwight. Both the staff and residents loved him there to help and also to visit. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy Muzzarelli of Daytona Beach, Florida; grandson, Cale Muzzarelli of Irving, Texas; one sister, Delores (John) Austin of Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Lila Williams Muzzarelli; three brothers: Samuel Muzzarelli, James Muzzarelli, and Jerry Muz- zarelli; and three sisters: Mary Densmore, Carrie Corneglio and Lillian Christensen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the United Methodist Church in South Wilmington or Heritage Health Activity Fund.
