Mary S. McCormick of Dwight, Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Accolade Health Care in Pontiac, Illinois. She was born in 1951 in Watseka, Illinois, the daughter of James A. and Rosalia E. McCormick. Mary will always be remembered as a special and caring sister, aunt, and cousin who was always ready to show the ones she loved just how deeply loved they really were. There are many who fondly recall of the children’s sleep-overs at Aunt Mary’s during the Christmas season and how she got as much happiness out of those special times as all of the children did. She is survived by four brothers: Jay (Linda Pressler) McCormick of Campbell Hill; John (Janice) McCormick of Joliet; Bill McCormick of Pontiac; Tom (Tammy Turner) McCormick of Dwight; and Leo McCormick of Gardner; and one sister, Debra Carman of Front Royal, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Mike of Bangkok, Thailand; George of Dwight; Bob of Greenville, Indiana; infant niece, Brandy; and one brother-in-law, Monty Carman of Strasburg, Virginia. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children; sister-in-law, Jane McCormick of Franklin, Indiana; along with two very special lifelong friends, Karen Makila of Addison, Illinois and Galen Brown of Effingham, Illinois. Mary graduated from MVK High School in Mazon, Illinois and attended Illinois State University. She was employed for several decades as a manager at ‘R’ Place Family Eatery in Morris. For several years during her retirement she worked at Becker’s Amoco in Dwight. Mary loved to travel, taking several trips to Hawaii, California and many other states, as well as London, England. She was often accompanied by her mother. Hager Memorial Home in Dwight is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dwight, with a private family gathering at a later date.
