PONTIAC – Norma Jean “Jeanie” Norgaard of Pontiac, Illinois passed away Tuesday evening, August 3, 2021 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Cremation rites were accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight, Illinois. Memorials in Jeanie’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Jeanie was born November 27, 1929 in Kempton, Illinois, daughter of Avis and Cora Lee Bailey. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Delmar Norgaard of Pontiac, Illinois; son, Terry (Mary Jo) Norgaard of Pontiac, Illinois; and daughter, Sonia (Grant) Oppenhuis of Lansing, Illinois. She has four grandchildren: Jeff (Sheina) Norgaard of Highland, Illinois; Tracy (Kenneth) Simmons of Griffith, Indiana; Paul Oppenhuis of Manhattan, Illinois; and Kayla Oppenhuis of Lansing, Illinois. She has five great-grandchildren: Gracelynn, Dalton, Hannah and Lucia Norgaard and Addison Oppenhuis. Also surviving are her sister, Wilma Fay Meredith of Clifton, Illinois, sister-in-law, Doris Carter of Pontiac, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Avis and Cora Lee Bailey; in-laws, Elmer and Agatha Norgaard; siblings: Evelyn Greene, Alla May Bailey, Clarence Bailey, Lawrence Bailey, Edna Huber, Edith Lopez, Ernest Bailey, and Donald Laverne Bailey; sisters-in-law, Betty and Lorraine Norgaard; brother-in-law, William Carter; and granddaughter, Teresa Jo Norgaard. She graduated from Kempton High School in Kempton, Illinois. She worked various jobs throughout her life. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
