John Becker, Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021, at the age of 86. John was born December 11, 1934 in Emington, Illinois, the son of John and Vivian (Landis) Becker. He graduated from Dwight High School in 1952 and met his loving wife Mary Holderman shortly after high school. John and Mary were married in 1965 at First United Methodist Church in Morris, Illinois. John and Mary enjoyed farming together for many years near Dwight, Illinois before moving to Arizona in 1985. They continued to raise their family in Cottonwood and Tucson, before moving to Gilbert, Arizona in 2001 to be closer to family. John’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He enjoyed visiting his children, playing with his grandchildren, and attending their school performances and sporting events. John was a warm and caring, thoughtful person and will be greatly missed by his family. John is survived by his four children: Barbara (Todd) Ivy, Connie (Tim) Dicker, Sarah Becker (David Vermette), and David Becker; six grandchildren: Ryan (Claire) Ivy, Trevor Ivy, Peyton Dicker, Carter Dicker, Cameron Vermette and Dylan Vermette; sisters: Phyllis Marzetta and Alberta McAnulty; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: John (Ann) Holderman, Carol (John) Oakland, and Bette Brooks; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; father and mother, John and Vivian Becker; and brothers-in-law, Bernie Watland and Jim Brooks. John was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dwight, Illinois, and later a member of Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Arizona, serving as usher over the years. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 325 E. Mazon Avenue, Dwight, Illinois followed by interment in the Goodfarm Trinity Cemetery, rural Dwight, Illinois. Additional visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dwight, Illinois, or Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church, Gilbert, Arizona.
