DWIGHT – William E. “Bill” Mortensen, 85, of Dwight, IL passed away June 12, 2021 at 1:25 p.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.
Funeral services for Bill will be Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, IL with Pastor Chrissy Salser officiating.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Dwight.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, IL, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, IL is in charge of arrangements.
Bill was born February 25, 1936 in Streator, IL to Elmer and Gertrude (Perschnick) Mortensen. He married Sharon (Lane) Mortensen on November 29, 1969 in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dwight, IL. She survives in Dwight.
Bill is also survived by his children: Deborah Mortensen of San Diego, CA; Kelly (Mark) Bruce of Dwight, IL; Trisha (Joe Lehner) Morten-sen of Dwight, IL; and David Mortensen of San Diego, CA; and his cherished grandson, Landon.
Also surviving are his siblings, Betty Ruff of Minier, IL and Gene (Barb) Mortensen of Dwight, IL.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Shirley Mortensen; and his beloved dog, Reid.
He was a graduate of Dwight Township High School, class of 1954. Bill served in the United States Army.
Bill was a printer for the Dwight Star &  Herald, and The Paper, for over 60 years. He had been a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dwight, IL and was a member of the Danish Brotherhood. He loved bowling and golfing and served as the secretary and treasurer of the Thursday Night bowling league.
Bill was a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. He was also very interested in photography, enjoying both taking and displaying photos; he enjoyed flowers, rose bushes and decorating his yard.
