Gerald Paul “Bub” Abell, 78, of Bridgeport, IL passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021. Bub was born June 4, 1942 in Lukin Township, Lawrence County, IL, the son of William Gerald and Floye June (Marx) Abell. They preceded him in death. He graduated from Bridgeport Township High School in 1961. The oldest of seven children, Bub never married. Surviving are his brother, Glen (Carolyn) Abell of Sumner, IL; and sister, Annette (Troy) Riegel of Dwight, IL. Several nieces and nephews and their children also survive. He was preceded in death by his sisters:  Elizabeth Matilda Mardis and Candi Sue VonBehren; and his brothers: William Chester “Billy” and Randall David Abell. He was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church. G. P. Abell was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Lancaster, IL. Cunningham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
