Paul J. DeSimone, age 80, formerly of Odell, IL and Queens, NY, passed away peacefully at Heritage Health in Dwight, IL  Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was born April 7, 1940 to the late Josephine (nee Bonanza) and Paul DeSimone in Syracuse, NY, where he was raised and educated. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He will be missed by beloved friends, James and Kim Paputsa of Emington, and their three daughters: Jennifer (David) Chi of Greenville, South Carolina; Anna (Eli) Pine of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and Katie Paputsa of Emington; Karen Odom of Odell; and many others. Paul was appreciative of all the friendships he made over the years. As a young man, Paul moved to Queens, NY, teaching drums and playing in “The Family Tree” band for many years. The band played throughout the Midwest and East Coast. He even played a few shows on Broadway. Later he resided in the south suburbs of Chicago working as a chef, moving to Odell 20 years ago. He was a member of New Covenant Community Church in Joliet, IL, a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Paul’s faith was to the Lord Jesus Christ and he rested on the promises of God. As it was Paul’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded and his final earthly remains will be interred at a later date in Union Cemetery, Emington, IL. Rev. Bruce Hollister will officiate.
