DWIGHT – Barbara Jean Davis, 69, of Dwight was born to heaven on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Joliet Area Community Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight, IL, and funeral services will be Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., also at Hager Memorial Home. Please feel free to wear purple, which was Barbara’s favorite color. Burial will follow the services in McDowell Cemetery, Dwight, IL. Born February 27, 1951 in Morris, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Dorothy (Beiswanger) Burger. Raised and educated in Dwight, she was a friendly and familiar face at her Uncle Bike’s Newsstand/Dwight News Agency, where she started working while still in high school, and later at the First National Bank of Dwight, from where she retired. On December 24, 1990, Barb married Daley L. Davis. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2012. Together they spent their time traveling and spoiling their grandkids. Grandma Barb continued that lifestyle after Daley passed. She never liked to sit at home and would drop everything for a chance to spend time with family and friends. Her grandkids will always treasure their adventures to Michigan, Arizona, Vegas, Florida, the East Coast, Wisconsin, Indiana Beach, Lake Geneva, the Illinois and Wisconsin state fairs, apple orchards and pumpkin patches. She was the happiest when surrounded by her grandkids and she was always their biggest fan. She rarely missed any of their activities and had most recently even took on the role of teacher for her youngest grandchildren through the recent online learning situation. She loved all things purple, her flowers and garden, a McDonald’s Diet Coke, and Barry Manilow. She was known for her homemade lasagna, rolls, sugar cookies and pies. Barb treasured her family above all else on this earth. Surviving are her two daughters, Melissa (Jim) Snyder and Deb Dorsett (Robert Wilson), both of Dwight; and her step-children: Rich (Becky) Davis of Brookfield; Cindy Davis of Joliet; and Mike (Corina) Davis of Channahon. Also surviving are her treasured grandchildren: Jake, Molly and Josie Snyder; Dori and Cara Wilson; Daley, Ryan and Malia Davis; and Josh, Ella and Aubrey Davis. She also had a special place in her heart for her nieces, Rene Castillo and Michele Schafer, and nephew, Michael Schafer. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; sister, Carol Schafer; and brother-in-law, Robert Schafer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Livingston County Humane Society or Joliet Area Community Hospice. Condolences may be left and this obituary viewed at: www.hagermemorial.com
