CABERY – James E. Hamilton, 66, of Cabery, IL and formerly of Lawton, OK,passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his home in Cabery surrounded by his loving family. According to James’ wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Visitation will be held one hour preceding the services on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in the Cabery Methodist Church, Cabery. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. with Pastor John Lyons officiating. James was born on November 4, 1953 in Lawton, OK to Thomas Eugene and Celeste (VanHoozer) Hamilton. He married Geraldine Steinback on November 16, 1984 in Morris, IL. She survives in Cabery. He is also survived by his three beautiful children: N.B. Wayne and Monica (Pullam) Hamilton of Cabery, IL; Thomas and Alexis (Dettloff) Hamilton, also of Cabery; Celeste and Ronald (Varney) Hamilton of Godley, IL; grandson, Evan Dettloff; and many special adopted children. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, N.B. and Florance VanHoozer; brother, Johnny Hamilton, all from Oklahoma; and an uncle, Loal Buttrem. James was born and raised in Lawton, OK. He always loved riding motorcycles, fishing with his children, having family picnics, especially if it was the 4th of July. He enjoyed taking family trips to the mountains, where he always had a special story about them. He will be loved and missed and kept close in the hearts of his family.
