Betty R. Hakey

HAKEYGREENUP – Betty R. Hakey, 70, of Greenup and formerly of Braceville, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at her home in Greenup. Betty was born September 29, 1945 in Greenup, daughter of Delores and Loraine LeClerq Snack. In 2000, Betty retired from Personal Products in Wilmington, where she had worked for 20 years. She enjoyed crafting and decorating and there was nothing that she touched that wasn’t made with love. Betty loved nothing more than spending time with the family and making memories. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Donald J. Hakey, Sr., who she married July 14, 1962 in Greenup; four daughters: Kimberly Hakey of Toledo, Illinois; Debbie (Dave) Bunting of Braidwood; Laurie (Jim) Hibler of Reddick; and Sandra (Cal) Davis of Crown Point, Indiana. Nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Diana (Jim) Myers and Terry (Wendell) Kemper, both of Greenup; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Theresa Maskel of Morris, who was like another daughter to her. Preceding her in death were her son, Donald J. Hakey, Jr.; brother, Earl Snack; and sisters: Edna Hensley; Effie Vespie; Patricia Brassard; and twins, June and Jane Snack, at birth. The 4 p.m. funeral services Saturday, June 4, followed the 12 until 4 p.m. visitation at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel. Cremation rites were accorded following services.
