MORRIS – Gary A. Sassenger, 66, of Morris and formerly of Dwight, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Gary was born July 7, 1949, son of Ralph and Bernice Ely Sassenger. He is survived by two sons: Joshua (Sheri) Sassenger of Auburn, Georgia, and Jason (Kady) Sassenger of Lexington; brothers: Ralph (Bonnie) Sassenger of Morris; Dennis (Ann) Sassenger of Crossville, Tennessee; Keith (Deb) Sassenger of Chatsworth; and Kevin (Julie) Sassenger of Dwight. Also surviving are his sisters: Glenda Kutos of Dwight; Debra (Philip) Weller, Donna Gebhardt, Dorreen Hodgson, all of Dwight; Rhonda (Mike) Oughton of Channahon; and Kim (Charles) Sancken of Emington. Seven grandchildren: Alexander, Adam, Gavin Sassenger; and Cadyen, Wesley, Desmond and Tessa Sassenger; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Sjostrom of Morris, also survive. Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother; one infant son, Brian Sassenger; sisters: Dawn Sassenger, Judith Kiper, and Sheryle Laabs; and brothers: Terry and Larry Sassenger. Gary worked many years at Shanebrook Graphics in Pontiac and Florida Colorgraphics; was a former volunteer fireman on the Dwight Fire Department; and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved watching any sports on TV, playing cards, and also loved his Budweiser. A celebration of Gary’s life was held at the VFW in Dwight Saturday, January 30. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
