Donald Humbert

DonaldHumbertDWIGHT – Donald John Humbert, 87, of Dwight passed away Thursday, October 29, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bloomington.
Donald was born December 3, 1927 in Nevada Township, son of August and Emma Sorenson Humbert. He lived all his life in Dwight.
He married Doretta Campbell April 4, 1959. She survives.
Also surviving are his children: Michael (Gail) Humbert, Margaret (Mike) Graham and William Humbert, all of Dwight; Donna (Mark) Potaczek of Genoa; Mary (Tom) Knight of Westville, Indiana; Sharon (Jim) Peterson of Morris; and Daniel Humbert of Dwight; grandchildren: Kelli Humbert (Brandon Schlegel), Stephanie Humbert (Clayton Parkhill), Emma Peterson, Michael (Aimee) Graham, David (Katie) Graham, Daniel Knight and Kelly (Ben) Nebgen.
Don served as a medical technician in the Armed Forces of the United States
of America from March of 1946 to September of 1947.
He was a hard-working husband and father who was known for his great cooking. He enjoyed his “retirement years” managing and cooking at the Dwight Country Club, where he also helped maintain the greens, and also tended the grill on weekends at Turtle’s Tap. He passed on his love of sports to his children and spent many years cheering on the Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks and Bears.
Donald will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
A private family burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dwight, followed the private family service at Hager Memorial Home Monday, November 2.
Visitation was from 2 until 6 p.m., Sunday, November 1, at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.
